Tornasol was created by Gerardo Herrero and Javier López Blanco in 1987. In 1999 Mariela Besuievsky joined the team. Its headquarters is located in Madrid and It is mainly dedicated to the production of cinema and series. Its long history places it as one of the most prolific and competent film companies in the country.
From its creation, the company has carried out the production of more than 130 feature length films and several short films, as well as various documentaries and TV series. Many of these productions have been co-productions with other European countries and Latin America. In 2010, the company was awarded the Oscar for Best Film in a Foreign Language for “The Secret in Their Eyes”, by Juan José Campanella. “Last Circus” directed by Alex de la Iglesia won the Silver Lion at the 67th edition of the Venice Film Festival for Best Director, and the Osella for the Best Screenplay. In 2016, at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, our film “May God Save Us” was aware with the prize to the Best Original Screenplay. In 2019, Tornasol obtained a total of 11 Goya Awards for “The Realm” directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, “A Twelve-Year Night” directed by Alvaro Brechner and “The Man who killed Don Quixote” directed by Terry Gilliam.
