About Tornasol
From its creation, the company has carried out the production of more than 170 feature length films and several short films, as well as various documentaries and TV series. Many of these productions have been co-productions with other European countries and Latin America. In 2010, the company was awarded the Oscar for Best Film in a Foreign Language for “The Secret in Their Eyes”, by Juan José Campanella. “Last Circus” directed by Alex de la Iglesia won the Silver Lion at the 67th edition of the Venice Film Festival for Best Director, and the Osella for the Best Screenplay. In 2016, at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, our film “May God Save Us” was aware with the prize to the Best Original Screenplay. In 2019, Tornasol obtained a total of 11 Goya Awards for “The Realm” directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, “A Twelve-Year Night” directed by Alvaro Brechner and “The Man who killed Don Quixote” directed by Terry Gilliam.
In 2021 the series “Ana Tramel. All in”, a co-production with RTVE, DeAPlaneta and ZDF Enterprises (Germany), was broadcast on RTVE. The series participated in the Málaga Film Festival, Montecarlo Television Festival and the Vitoria fesTVal. In October, “The Replacement” by Óscar Aibar was released, after participating in the Málaga Film Festival as part of the Official Selection.
In 2022, films such as “What Lucia Saw” by Imanol Uribe, “The Dinner Guest” by Ángeles González-Sinde, “Mom is a Match” by Daniela Fejerman and “Staring At Strangers” by Félix Viscarret were released.
In 2023, “My Father’s Mexican Wedding” by Alfonso Albacete and “Under Therapy” by Gerardo Herrero were released in theaters. “Under Therapy” won the Silver Biznaga – Special Jury Award at the Málaga Film Festival 2023. The films “Someone Who Takes Care Of Me” by Daniela Fejerman and Elvira Lindo, “Verano en rojo” by Belén Macías and “Artificial Justice” by Simón Casal will be released soon. Upcoming productions include the series “Detective Touré” co-produced with DeAPlaneta, which will shoot in Bilbao and the feature film “Raqqa” directed by Gerardo Herrero, which is currently in development.
